PRWEB / January 9, 2012
Hundreds of organizations from across the country are planning more than 120 events to celebrate the second-annual National School Choice Week, January 22-28, 2012, organizers announced today.
Postings of events on the National School Choice Week website (http://www.SchoolChoiceWeek.com) are outpacing the number of events posted at this time last year. The Week's organizers expect hundreds of additional events to be posted over the next two weeks. The events will take place in all 50 states and will feature tens of thousands of participants.
"Not only are parents, students, teachers, and activists planning great events, but we've been impressed with the variety of celebrations being organized," said Andrew Campanella, vice president of public affairs for National School Choice Week. "We are seeing everything from major rallies, to movie screenings, to coffee house events, to roundtable discussions. The tremendous amount of support for school choice that exists across the country is clearly reflected in the types of events being planned."
National School Choice Week shines an unprecedented spotlight on the need for effective education options for all children. Supporters of National School Choice Week believe that children and families deserve increased access to great public schools, public charter schools, virtual schools, private schools, and homeschooling.
The Week will kick off on Saturday, January 21, 2012 with a major celebration featuring The Temptations and Ellis Marsalis at 10:30 AM at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
