Dear Virtual Public School Family,
I have an important question for you: How did you hear about your virtual public school? Was it through a friend or family member? Did you learn about it by doing some online research? Did you receive information in the mail or did you see an ad on TV?
However you heard about your online school, we can all agree that most parents choose this education option because it is the best fit for their children and family. Yet, some lawmakers want to limit how online schools are able to notify families about their school. HB2516 was recently introduced in the Oregon House of Representatives. It would place restrictions on how online schools are allowed to advertise and promote their schools. This hardly seems fair.
The House Education Committee is holding a hearing on HB2516 on Monday, March 25. Families deserve the right to know about all available education options. Would you be willing to testify at this hearing and urge lawmakers to oppose HB2516? Never testified before? We’ll walk you through how it’s done.
If you’re willing to testify, please send us an email, info@oregonvirtualschools.org.
