May Newsletter: Eugene Science Trip Recap & More!

President’s Letter

For our family, it feels like the school year flew by! I hope that your family is enjoying the sunshine during these last few weeks of school. If you haven't filled out our family survey, please scroll down to the link in this newsletter. OVPSA looks forward to hosting more events this fall, so stay tuned to our social media channels.

Event Recap

On May 9, we enjoyed meeting so many families at the Eugene Science Center field trip. A total of 66 students and parents attended, representing 5 different virtual schools around Oregon. The ESC staff presented a slideshow about meteorites, with actual meteorites that students could touch. The exhibit hall had many stations with hands-on science experiments. Students enjoyed connecting in person with their friends and teachers.

Family Survey!

It’s not too late to share your online school story. Please take 5 minutes to complete our survey and tell us why an online public school works for you.

Your survey responses will help us inform the conversation surrounding online public schools in Oregon. We gather this information annually to inform and educate state lawmakers about Oregon’s online schools and the families who utilize them.

Teacher Appreciation

Although we celebrated Teacher Appreciation during the first week in May, at the OVPSA, we want to recognize our teachers all month long. Take a look at what families are saying about their virtual public school teachers.

Thank you for all you do to support our schools!

Sincerely,

Tricia F. Powell

President

The Oregon Virtual Public Schools Alliance is coalition of parent volunteers whose primary objective is protecting access to a quality, virtual public education in our state. We seek to protect this right by educating Oregon policymakers about the benefits of virtual public charter schools and the positive contributions they make to our children's education.
