In 2011, the Oregon State Legislature placed a 3% cap on the number of kids in a school district that can transfer to full-time online schools. With all the uncertainty here in Oregon and the fierce national debate about the safety of reopening schools, parents are weighing their options. More and more parents are seeking better online learning options and school districts are hitting the 3% enrollment cap.

Lifting the enrollment cap will allow more parents to seek an online public school education for their children. The State Legislature should enact a permanent cap increase to ensure that online public schools are available to those families who choose to utilize this important education option.
